Shocking and sickening images of my favourite cosmoplitan city... and I felt I just needed to show some soladarity with my fellow 'Villagers' last night...
... much of the media has focused on the main shopping areas - Market Street, the Arndale and indeed the nearest to the Manchester Village hit by these 'Ferule Rats' was the Dawson music store opposite the Brittania hotel, not more than 3 minutes from Canal St. But there's no mention of the Village and how that fared; the Ferule Rats had attacked any establishment they passed by - for the Village that's those establishments closest to those access roads that cross Canal St.
My arrival into the Village was via my usual route along Sackville St, past the gardens; the Deli on the corner had been smashed into, the front door now replaced with plywood; Tribeca had a smashed window that was still intact. As I reached Canal St, I was greeted by the sight of police officers in pairs, stationed at each road junction crossing Canal St; so about 10 in total from end to end, roughly the same as the number of people stood outside Via smoking.
Rembrandt and Via were open, AXM was shut, View had a boarded up window on the Chorlton St side and was shut with all the curtains drawn - apparently had some fire damage. Churchills had a large side window boarded up but was open, Queer appeared Ok but was quiet; and for Velvet and Taurus they were untouched and business as usual - whilst next door around the corner, the probation office was severely damaged.
So I had a few (non-alcholic) drinks in Taurus which was understandably quieter than usual, and I chatted with the regulars who live nearby, who were able to recount the aftermath of the now infamous YouTube video of police officers nicely and fairly dealing with oykes on bikes near to Piccadilly station.
And later I just had to check out Naps, which just like Mctuckys, had not been touched and was open for business. But Naps just had the groundfloor bar open - no upstairs so no mad dancing tonight... despite a few regular girls being in evidence the management felt it was likely to be too quiet to bother opening all floors up. So a quick coke and home before the car park cost me more than £2.

I heard this evening that Vue had been totally emptied by looters. Not sure how true that is though.
Was really sad to see what happened in Manchester. Hopefully thats the end of it and they make an example of those morons they caught.
I did once briefly meet the reporter Kate Adie a few years ago. Really nice lady.
